• Call your moving company 6-8 weeks in advanced. The spring months are busy, so call in advanced to secure your move date.
• Begin with packing storage spaces such as attics, garages, and outdoor sheds. Leave essentials for the end.
• Use a colored labeling system – this way you know where each packed box should go (i.e. red tape for living room, green tape for bedroom)
• Have a few boxes set aside for items you will need as soon as you arrive in your new home – items such as bed sheets, toiletries, and coffee makers should be easily accessible.
• Make arrangements for plants and pets – Many moving companies do not move indoor or outdoor plants. Make sure you find alternative transportation or give them away before moving day.
